Penny Wiggins

Greenville Messenger: A colored woman by the name of Penny Wiggins, died here on Sunday last at the ripe age of 105. She was born in South Carolina and brought to Alabama "the years the [illegible] fell"-that was 1833. There can hardly be any doubt as to her age and she was probably the oldest person in this section of the State. Within a week of her death she could walk without a stick or [illegible] but the pupils of her eyes had changed from black to a grayish tinge.

Jacksonville Republican, Jacksonville, Alabama, 27 August 1887, page 1, column 7.
