Mrs. Cummings Lakeview, Fla. On last Tuesday Eve, ere the setting sun shed its latest rays, a fall of gloom had o'er shaded our little village as it was announced that Mrs. Cummings, our neighbor, our friend, our counseller had been claimed by the grim hand of death, she died a most triumpant death in the arms of her devoted husband to whom she was all in all. Her son, her only child was unable to be at her bedside oweing to prostration from the sad news. The high prerogatives of suffering is to the human mind uncomprehensible, and yet humanity may profit by its existance, our departed friend suffered instensely and yet never a word of complaint welled up from the devoted heart. She trusted in the Lord and the Lord sustained her. The aching head was pillowed upon his promise, passing away to where she awaits the friends left behind. May they all join her in her glorified home. Mrs. Cummings died on Tuesday eve, September the 13th, 1887 at 4:50 p.m. The funeral occurred Wednesday eve, September the 14th, 1887 at 4 p.m. Rev. Kickliter conducted the services. The Pallbearers were Messrs. Brigham, Beck, Puddy and White. She was buried in the southeast corner of the grounds attached to the residence until the Cemetery of the Methodist Church is laid out as was her request. The floral decorations and offerings were very beautiful and abundant. Rev. Kickliter rendered a very beautiful and touching serman. |
