Old "Uncle Bass" Dead.
Old man Bass Scroggins, a negro character widely known in this immediate section, died at his home in the northern part of town Wednesday night. He was about eighty years of age, and his death was due to a general breaking down. "Uncle Bass," as he was familiarly known by old and young alike, had lived in Albany for many years. He was a truck farmer and peddled vegetables about town until failing health forced him to quit work several months ago. His remains were interred Thursday.
