Capt. Julius W. Boyd

On last Saturday morning at 7 o'clock at his home 20 miles north of Douglas Capt. J. W. Boyd breathed his last.

For two years Capt. Boyd has been in ill health, and a month ago he was stricken with bronchial trouble and it soon became apparent to the attending physicians that his chances for life were meager. He grew worse daily and other physicians were called in, but the dread monster held his grasp and on the above date his life went out with the fading night.

Capt. Boyd was close to 60 years old, and was among the staunchest citizens of Coffee county. He once represented the 5th Senatorial district in the legislature, and he has always stood high in county affairs. He was a very good man, and was a consistent member of the Methodist church. A man who was never demonstrative but always a supporter of the church and its institutions. Capt. Boyd leaves a wife and eleven children, all in very good circumstances.

He was buried at Oak Grove church Sunday.

Passed peacefully away at his home about 7 A.M. May the 9th. On the field of battle, in the legislative halls of his state as husband, father, neighbor, friend, in all the relationships of life he was faithful and true. He loved the church and took pleasure in supporting her institutions. A good man is gone.                                      J. S. Lewis
