Charles H. Smith

We deeply regret being called upon to announce the death of Mr. Charles H. Smith, one of our Boston visitors, who was with us for the second winter season. He came here last season in hopes of receiving benefit, and though he returned to his home in quite feeble heath, yet felt convinced that our climate would be more regenerative to his fragile constitution, than any other spot; but the fell destroyer, consumption, had laid too strong a siege upon him; pneumonia set in and on Sunday last at 2:30 P. M. his spirit took its flight to that bourn where sickness and pain are known no more, and where "Heaven will open on his eyes."

He leaves a widow and two young daughters to mourn his loss, who have the heartfelt sympathy of all Valdostians who made his acquaintance. None knew him, but to love; none spoke of him, but in praise. His age was 43 years.

Requicscat in pace.
