Cynthia Varner The many friends of Mrs. Cynthia Varner will regret to hear of her death. She died at Indian Spring last Tuesday. Probably no lady was ever more widely and favorably known than Mrs. Varner. She was contemporary with Gen. McIntosh, Troup and the Treaty, as well as many of the most important evens in the history of those warring times. Being blessed with strong intellectual powers and relentive memory, it was indeed a treat to hear her describe the eventful moments that transpired from 1828 to 1836. Noble woman! Having filled well life's duty you have at last crossed over the river and now rests in peace, but your many virtues will live in the memory of those who have been often entertained under your hospitable roof. Thus, one by one the old of both sexes passeth away, and soon not one will be left in the link that binds the present to the glorious past. |
