A Card

In order to counteract an impression that has gained credence in the public mind, I state that there is no yellow fever on the Island, nor anything at all like it. The only case similating, in the least, yellow fever was that of Mr. J. T. Gurnsey, who died last Saturday. His was a severe attack of malarial fever, and he did turn yellow before his death, but every intelligent physician, of experience, will confirm the statement that it is often the case that patients assume a decidedly yellow hue in various diseases, without the least suspicion of yellow fever. With the exception of his yellowness of cast, Mr. G. had no symptom in common with that of yellow fever. I have at this time, five cases of fever, all convalescing, and not one that has assumed the yellow color.

Very respectfully,

R. J. Massey.

St. Simons, Ga., Aug. 3d, 1880.
