Mr. T. F. Grubb

Mr. T. F. Grubb, one of the best citizens of Upson county, died at his residence five miles from Thomaston last Friday the 7th of August. He was born at Sweetwater, Tennessee, the 12th day of August 1827, came to Atlanta, Ga., in 1840, where he lived until 1865, when he moved to Thomaston. While he lived in Atlanta he engaged in merchandising, negro trading, and was for a number of years in the warehouse business under the firm name of Grubb and Clark. He accumulated considerable wealth and at one time paid tax on $82,000, but the war come and swept away the bulk of his property. At the time of his death he owned one of the best plantations in Upson county and was said to be one of the best and most successful planters in Middle Georgia. He was a useful man in his neighborhood, a kind father and a good husband, and will be missed by all. He leaves an interesting family, many relatives and friends to mourn his loss. All have our sympathy in their sad bereavement.
