Wiley Chambliss Killed by an Ox Cart. Wiley Chambliss, formerly a prominent farmer and property owner of Berrien county, was killed at his farm in Baldwin county, Alabama, on Thursday morning. He was driving a team of oxen when they become unmanagable and ran away. They threw him out and the heavy cart passed over his body. He lingered in great agony all that day and died from the injuries that night. His remains were taken to Alapaha and buried from Flat Creek church, Berrien county, Monday. Mr. Chambliss was a well known and popular man, full of droll humor. He removed to Alabama from Alapaha a few years ago. |
