William R. Jackson Death of an Old Citizen Upson County lost one of her oldest and best citizens last week, in the death of Mr. William R. Jackson, which occurred on Wednesday. Mr. Jackson lacked only one day of being eighty-three years old, at the time of his death. He moved to Upson county in 1842, or possibly earlier, and his home has been here ever since. He is spoken of as one of the best men in the county—a clever, kind-hearted, substantial man, harming no one, a good and upright citizen. For many years he was a member of New Hope church and the consistency of his life with his profession, was known to all. An old landmark has disappeared, a venerable father in Israel has gone to his eternal home. He left a good name and the record of an upright life for his family; and to the younger generation of men, he left an example which they can profitably follow.
