OBITUARIES, DEATH NOTICES, AND TOMBSTONES

Knowing the importance of finding death information for our ancestors in genealogical pursuits has lead us to begin recording various obituaries, death notices, resolutions, memoriams, card of thanks, and any reference of the death of individuals mostly in 19th century newspapers throughout Alabama, Florida, and Georgia. As we come across this information it is transcribed verbatim and the source is noted. Sometimes it may even be a one line reference, but often these small bits of information are all it takes to break down barriers in genealogical research.

Remember that even though an ancestor is listed in one state that doesn’t mean that they lived there. If there was a connection to family in the geographic location in which the newspaper was printed, then that is the state category the person is listed under. This pursuit has lead to tombstone photography as well.

The following links will take you to the indicated state. The family names are representative of a few of the ones listed in our database.
